[THE INVESTOR] Four foreign carmakers will voluntarily recall more than 1,600 vehicles to fix faulty parts, the Transport Ministry said on March 2.

It is the latest in a series of recall measures being undertaken by both domestic and foreign carmakers to ensure their vehicles meet current safety rules.

The four carmakers -- Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, Volvo and Indian Roadmaster -- plan to recall nine different models totaling 1,629 vehicles, the ministry said in a statement.

The models include Mercedes-Benz’s GLE 350 d 4MATIC coupe, Aston Martin’s DB11 sports car, Volvo’s FH Cargo truck and Indian Roadmaster’s two-wheeler, it said.

The problems include a fragile front windshield on the GLE 350 d 4MATIC, malfunctioning air bags in the DB11 and a faulty air bag inflator in the Volvo FH Cargo, the statement said.

Starting March 5, vehicle owners can visit designated repair and service centers to have the parts replaced free of charge, it said.
