[THE INVESTOR] SsangYong Motor said on March 2 that its sales fell 16 percent last month from a year earlier.

The company sold 9,090 vehicles in February, down from 10,816 units a year earlier, the company said in a statement.

The overall sales were affected by fewer working days due to the Lunar New Year holidays, which fell on the third week of last month and decreased exports, the statement said.

Domestic sales declined 12.8 percent to 7,070 units last month from 8,106 a year earlier. Exports plunged 25.5 percent to 2,020 units from 2,710 during the same period, it said.

In the January-February period, the maker of the Rexton and Tivoli SUVs sold a combined 19,295 vehicles, down 9.1 percent from 21,236 a year earlier, the company said.
