[THE INVESTOR] Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said on March 2 that it has clinched a deal worth US$170 million to build two very large crude oil carriers.
The shipbuilder said it is set to deliver the carriers, which can each hold 300,000 tons of crude oil, to an unidentified shipping company in Europe by the first half of 2020.
The deal came just days after DSME won two separate orders to build two liquefied natural gas carriers and three very large crude carriers.
The shipbuilder said its accumulated orders in 2018 came to US$1.2 billion, 40 percent of last year’s total orders of US$3 billion.
