[THE INVESTOR] Kia Motors said on March 6 the accumulated sales of its Soul boxcar have exceeded the 1 million mark in the United States.

The Kia Soul, first launched in the key North American market in 2009, has from the outset attracted new customers to the Kia brand by projecting the kind of individuality and optimism that appeals to both the young and the young at heart, Michael Sprague, chief operating officer at Kia Motors America, said in a statement.

The Soul had the lowest number of problems per 100 cars among compact multi-purpose vehicles in the J.D. Power 2015-2017 US Initial Quality Studies, a reflection of higher quality, the statement said.

The car has been one of Kia’s best-selling cars in the US, outpacing rival boxcars made by Japanese rivals.
