[THE INVESTOR] SINGAPORE -- Money20/20, the world’s largest fintech and payments conference, on March 13 made its Asian debut in Singapore, bringing hundreds of industry leaders around the world to the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Center.

“We are thrilled to expand Money20/20 to the world’s fastest-growing fintech marketplace and provide a space for the region’s leading senior industry players to connect, debate and set out the future of money and explore the fast expansion of the Asia-Pacific payments and financial services landscape,” said Money20/20 President Tracey Davies.

The Money20/20 event was first held in the US and is now thriving in Europe. It has now debuted in Asia, the world’s fastest-growing fintech marketplace, with the host city Singapore acting as a gateway, with its connectivity to regional economic powerhouses like Korea and China as well as Southeast Asia.

The three-day event will explore how banks and tech firms collaborate and compete in the ever-evolving market, with the key topics ranging from alternative lending, banking based on artificial intelligence and machine learning and the tokenized economy.

A carefully curated lineup of more than 350 leading innovators from Ant Financial, Tencent, Google, PayPal and Samsung Pay will share their insights into the market. The key speakers include, among others: Anthony Tan, CEO of Grab, the so-called Uber in Southeast Asia; Alibaba’s Ant Financial CTO Cheng Li and Nadium Makarim; CEO of Go-Jek, the Indonesian ride-hailing unicorn; and Piyush Gupta, CEO of DBS Group, Southeast Asia’s No. 1 lender.

Money20/20 was founded in 2011. Three years later, it was acquired by Ascential, a global business-to-business information company. Its specialty is creating destination events where the most innovative people in payments, fintech and the broader financial services industry connect.

Famed for their high-impact networking, the Las Vegas (October) and Copenhagen (June) editions are widely considered unmissable by the industry they serve. Money20/20 will debut its APAC edition in Singapore in March 2018 and is expanding to Hangzhou, China, in November 2018.

The Investor, a Korea Herald spin-off focusing on investment news, is one of the official media partners of Money20/20’s Singapore event.
