[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics on March 16 released the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones in some 70 countries.

The Galaxy S9 series will be available in key markets, such as Korea, the United States, Britain and Russia, along with other countries. The Korean tech giant said it plans to release the new flagship smartphone in 110 nations by the end of this month.

Maintaining most of design of the Galaxy S8, the new smartphones have relocated the fingerprint sensor on the back to below the lens to make it easier to reach. In terms of other features, the Galaxy S9’s main camera comes with a variable aperture that can automatically or manually switch between F1.5 and F2.4.

The super slow motion video and augmented reality-based emojis are also some of the handsets‘ new features.

Consumers, however, have been reluctant to line up at stores as such seemingly interesting features were not seen as being fascinating enough to induce them to purchase the Galaxy S9.

Samsung has not released preorder results of the Galaxy S9 series in South Korea, but industry watchers presume the figure to be below that of the S8 and S8 Plus phones released last year.
