[THE INVESTOR] Sony Korea said on March 22 it has appointed Okura Kikuo, current head of consumer products, as its next chief executive officer. He will take office on April 1.

After joining Sony in 1991, the incoming CEO worked at the sales department for broadcasting equipment in Hong Kong, storage business planning and marketing in Tokyo and as a marketing manager for digital imaging in Latin America.

Before coming to Korea last year to lead the consumer products unit, Kikuo served as head of Sony Malaysia in 2012 and Indonesia in 2014.

“The newly appointed CEO has affluent overseas experiences and deep understanding of the Korean market and culture,” the company said. “He will try to find contacts between Korean consumers and Sony products to solidify the brand’s leadership in the market.”
