[THE INVESTOR] SsangYong Motor said on April 2 its sales fell 13 percent last month from a year earlier due to weak overseas demand for its vehicles.

SsangYong Motor sold a total of 11,369 vehicles in March, down from 12,992 units a year earlier, the company said in a statement.

The monthly sales results were affected by a sharp decline in exports, the statement said.

Domestic sales rose 0.2 percent to 9,243 units last month from 9,229 a year earlier. But exports plunged 44 percent to 2,126 units from 3,763 during the same period, it said.

In the January-March period, the maker of the Rexton and Tivoli SUVs sold a combined 11,369 vehicles, down 13 percent from 12,992 a year earlier, the company said.
