[THE INVESTOR] Renault Samsung Motors said on April 2 that  its March sales rose 7 percent from a year earlier on increased exports.

Renault Samsung sold 27,059 vehicles in March, up from 25,281 units the previous year, the company said in a statement.

Domestic sales fell 26 percent on-year to 7,800 units last month from 10,510 units. But exports jumped 30 percent to 19,259 from 14,771 during the same period, the statement said.

In the January-March period, overall sales fell 1.8 percent on-year to 64,900 autos from 66,119, but the fall was arrested by strong overseas demand for Nissan Motor Corp.‘s Rogue SUV, which is assembled in Renault Samsung’s only plant in Busan, 450 kilometers south of Seoul.

The company’s current lineup includes the SM3 compact, the all-electric SM3 Z.E. sedan, the QM3 subcompact SUV, and the SM5, SM6 and SM7 sedans.
