[THE INVESTOR] Samsung C&T has completed construction of wind and solar power facilities in Ontario after 10 years of work, the company said on April 10.

The last part of the three-stage US$5 billion project was finishing the North Kent Wind, a 100-megawatt wind power plant in Chatham-Kent, Ontario. The construction and trading company said this particular project had special meaning since it proposed the idea and execution plan rather than winning the contract through bidding.

The project got underway in 2008, with Samsung C&T making construction plans according to the specific needs of Ontario. The main contract was signed in 2010, and 10 power-generating facilities have been built in total.

Power can be stably supplied to Ontario’s power authority for the next 20 years through this project, the company said, adding that it will continue to seek renewable energy business in North America.
