[THE INVESTOR] An independent investigation committee centered on work-related diseases of Samsung Electronics said on April 23 it will announce the results of its investigation later this week.

The committee was established in June 2016 to investigate the working environments of Samsung’s chip and display lines under an agreement with victims and their families who suffered from various diseases, including leukemia, after working for Korea’s top tech giant.

The investigation team, led by professor Lee Cheol-soo of Seoul National University, plans to give a presentation on its activities on April 25.

Industry watchers said the team is anticipated to give details on Samsung’s disaster management system along with recommendations for the company to ensure safe working environments.

The team is also set to give details on possible correlations between Samsung’s workplace environment and diseases, including leukemia.
