[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics said on May 2 it will start global sales of the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus smartphones equipped with its high-end Infinity Display, along with a more potent selfie camera this month.

The 5.6-inch Galaxy A6 and 6-inch Galaxy A6 Plus comes with Samsung’s minimum bezel Infinity Display boasting an 18.5:9 aspect ratio that can allow users to enjoy the widest viewing experience with the available screen size.

The device is aimed squarely at the heavily contested mid-range market, which is growing at a solid pace, particularly in emerging markets and among those people buying smartphones for the first time.

Samsung said users can also enjoy quality sound through the Dolby Atmos technology when using headsets.

The Galaxy A6 Plus comes with a front-facing selfie camera with a 16-megapixel and 24-megapixel sensor, respectively, allowing users to take more vivid selfies. The smartphones also have three-level selfie-flashlight for more customized photos.

The cameras are a step up from the 8-megapixel front camera being sported by the company‘s latest Galaxy S9 smartphone.

The two new smartphones come with a 16-megapixel main shooter, although the larger Galaxy A6 Plus will support dual lenses with an additional 5-megapixel camera.

The Galaxy A6 series will support key features of Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy S models, including the face recognition for security.

The devices will be released in blue, black, lavender and gold, although details will vary depending on the markets.

Samsung did not provide details on the price and release schedule but said the products will be sold globally starting this month.
