[THE INVESTOR] Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors said on May 3 they aim to sell a combined 1.35 million vehicles in China this year by launching new sport utility vehicles.

The annual sales target for this year is up from the 1.15 million units they sold in the world‘s biggest automobile market in 2017.

In 2018, Hyundai and Kia said they are targeting sales of 900,000 units and 450,000 units, respectively, in China. The figures are up from their actual achievements of 785,006 and 360,006 vehicles tallied for last year, according to the companies.

In the January-April period, the two carmakers, flagship companies of Hyundai Motor Group, sold a total of 347,927 cars, up 7.2 percent from a year earlier, Hyundai said in a statement.
