[THE INVESTOR] Korean venture capital firm SV Investment that is enjoying juicy earnings growth on its investment in Big Hit Entertainment, the agency behind global sensation BTS, will make its KOSDAQ debut early next month, according to industry sources on June 21.
The firm, established in 2006, has invested in diverse sectors ranging from IT, contents and more recently bio and health care. It is also seeking a US$100 million fund along with US-based VC Kensington Capital Ventures.
Still, the firm may be best known for its successful bet on Big Hit. Since 2011, the firm reportedly has invested 4 billion won (US$3.60 million) and collected more than 100 billion won in profits.
Over the past year, the firm’s net profit almost doubled to 6.14 billion won. Considering it manages about 630 billion won last year, it is ranked 10th among the nation’s 120 VCs registered.
The firm plans to list 26.61 million shares in its planned IPO. The market capitalization is expected to reach about 170 billion won.
