[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics on June 21 warned that users of its mobile payment system, Samsung Pay, in Korea should be wary of spam messages disguised as official notices from the company.

The announcement came as some Samsung Pay users received text messages about transactions they had not made, and when they called the number, the sender claimed that their personal information had been leaked, and that they should provide the company with their credit card number as well as other data.

Samsung said it only delivers messages through push notifications and that users should be cautious about spam messages disguised as official alerts.
The company advised users to refrain from calling the number shown on the problematic message, or click on its link.
