[THE INVESTOR] CJ Cheiljedang said on June 25 it will launch a new brand tailored for consumers with special dietary and nutritional needs, including children and those with health concerns, this year as part of its efforts to boost its instant meal business.

The company said it will introduce 14 products to the market under the new brand set to be unveiled in the second half of this year.

As part of the plan, CJ Cheiljedang will first make products for patients in a business-to-business partnership with Gangnam Severance Hospital in southern Seoul. Its aim is to begin business-to-consumer sales of the products in 2019.

CJ Cheiljedang said the latest decision comes amid growing demand for healthier instant meals, such as those produced with less salt and balanced nutritional ingredients.

The affiliate of the Korean food and entertainment giant, CJ, has been aggressively investing in the ready-to-eat items, often referred to as home meal replacement products here, amid the fast-growing number of single-person households.
