[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics said on July 19 it hosted a developers‘ conference on artificial intelligence technologies, reflecting its efforts to penetrate deeper into the new growth engine.

The Korean tech giant said it hosted the 2018 Software Engineers’ Energizing Day, where some 600 researchers across LG Group’s affiliates gathered to share the latest updates in the field.

The company said developers discussed the latest trends in the AI, robot, and blockchain industries.

“This is an event where (researchers) can expand their networks by discussing various topics, and improve capabilities in software for AI and robot technologies,” said Chief Technology Officer Park Il-pyung, claiming the company is seeking to bolster innovative moves through such conferences.

LG said it has been seeking to apply AI and big data technologies in customers’ everyday lives based on around 60 years of business know-how in consumer electronics.

The company said its AI project centers on openness of platform, partnership, and connectivity.
