[THE INVESTOR] Korean cosmetics maker Amorepacific saw its second-quarter net profit jump 41.7 percent on-year on July 26, rebounding from last year’s slump sparked by the diplomatic tension between Seoul and Beijing.
Net profit came to 109 billion won (US$97.30 million) in the April-June period, compared with 77.4 billion won posted a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Operating profit increased 43.5 percent to 145.8 billion won in the second quarter, with sales also improving 11.5 percent to 1.34 trillion won.
The combined operating income of Amorepacific Group came to 170.3 billion won, up 30.6 percent over the cited period.
The cosmetics firm earlier suffered a slump amid a diplomatic row between the two countries over the deployment of THAAD in Korea.
