[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics said Aug. 23 its 2018 editions of premium TVs won HDR 10+ certification, with the company claiming it will continue to promote the resolution standard.

HDR technology allows television screens to deliver vivid displays by optimizing brightness depending on color. The HDR10+ technology is the latest standard advocated by tech companies like Samsung.

Samsung along with Japan’s Panasonic and 20th Century Fox, established a joint company dubbed HDR10+ Technology LLC earlier this year to push forward the new standard.

The company said HDR10+ has been expanding its presence in the market, with TP Vision, which produces Philips branded TVs, also adopting the standard for its premium products.

Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox plan to introduce content based on HDR10+ in the near future, Samsung added.

Rakuten TV, a major video-on-demand service provider in Europe, is moving to join forces with Samsung to provide HDR10+ content to its viewers.

“Based on Samsung’s leading technology and know-how, we plan to expand ties with major partners around the globe to provide users with top-notch HDR content,” the Korean company said.
