[THE INVESTOR] Kia Motors said on Oct. 1 its September sales fell 6.4 percent from a year earlier as fewer working days resulted in weak local sales.

Kia sold 233,708 vehicles in September, down from 249,722 units the same month in 2017. Production and sales were affected by last month’s celebration of the Chuseok holiday, the company said in a statement.

Domestic sales plunged 25 percent on-year to 35,800 units in September from 48,019. Overseas sales declined a marginal 1.9 percent to 197,908 from 201,703 over the same period, the statement said.

From January to September, Kia’s sales rose 2.7 percent to 2.08 million autos from 2.02 million units in the same period the previous year, it said.
