[THE INVESTOR] Korea’s main bourse ended nearly flat on Jan. 28 despite trading higher earlier in the session as blue chip shares saw mixed trade, analysts said. The local currency strengthened against the greenback.
The benchmark KOSPI shed 0.43 points, or 0.02 percent, to finish at 2,177.30. Trading volume was moderate at 366 million shares worth 5.99 trillion won (US$5.37 billion), with losers outpacing gainers 457 to 359.
Foreigners bought more shares than they sold at 354 billion won, while individuals offloaded a net 43 billion won. Institutions sold a net 300 billion won.
The local currency closed at 1,117.70 won against the US dollar, up 3.60 won from the previous session’s close.
