Korean shares end lower as investors await outcome of US-China trade talks

Korean shares ended lower on Feb. 19 as investors await the outcome of the ongoing US-China trade talks and the release of minutes from the Federal Reserve. The won fell against the US dollar.
The benchmark KOSPI fell 5.26 points, or 0.24 percent, to 2,205.63. Trading volume was moderate at 384.23 million shares worth 4.46 trillion won (US$3.95 billion), with decliners outnumbering gainers 408 to 406.
Institutional investors bought a net 142 billion won worth of stocks, offsetting individuals’ net selling of 139 billion won of stocks.
The local currency closed at 1,128.20 won against the US dollar, down 2.40 won from the previous session’s close.
