South Korean stocks fell slightly on March 27 as investors remained cautious ahead of the gloomy earnings season, analysts said. The local currency lost ground against the US dollar.

The benchmark KOSPI dipped 3.18 points, or 0.15 percent, to finish at 2,145.62.

Trading volume was relatively light at 358.6 million shares worth 4.43 trillion won ($3.90 billion), with losers outpacing gainers 458 to 359.

Foreigners led the decline to dump a net 155.2 billion worth of local shares, offsetting a net 119.1 billion won in buying by institutions.

The local currency traded at 1,134.50 won against the US dollar, down 1.10 won from the previous day’s close.
