Shinsegae International on May 3 announced that it has launched new coworking space “Scale Up” for startups in the lifestyle-related industry in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul.

In April, the company decided to establish this coworking space for startups along the lines of its business model based on its existing coworking space S.I Lab., which is mainly for fashion businesses.

“Scale Up’s main purpose is not to provide space, but rather to support startups with growth potential,” Shinsegae International Executive Director Park Seung-seok said. “With our infrastructure, we aim to make a win-win situation for both Shinsegae International and small startups.”

The Shinsegae affiliate’s new space spans around 278 square meters and will have seven offices and meeting rooms. One of the offices will be used for foreign business operators who visit South Korea.

According to the company, four members have to pay 1.5 million won per month to use Scale up.

Along with the coworking space, the members can receive diverse support services. They include giving some opportunities to use the company’s existing retail channels and also a chance to cooperate with Shinsegae’s existing brands.
