South Korean stocks closed slightly lower on July 22 as lackluster export data weighed on investor sentiment ahead of the corporate earnings season. The Korean won lost against the US dollar.

Institutions and retail investors offloaded a net 167.82 billion won and 65.19 billion won, respectively, while foreigners scooped up a net 233.3 billion won worth of local stocks.

The Korean won closed at 1,178.30 won against the US dollar, down 3.80 won from the previous session’s close.
