DB Robotics, South Korea’s only robotics company specializing in industrial safety and the prevention of major industrial accidents, announced Wednesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with SK Shieldus to broaden its role in the specialized robotics sector.

Established in 1999, DB Robotics has a track record of developing advanced robotics solutions tailored to specialized industries, earning certification for excellence in technology from credit bureau NICE Information Service in 2016, the company said.

Under the agreement, DB Robotics will focus on developing robotics solutions optimized for SK Shieldus’ expertise in security and facility management, while SK Shieldus will utilize its extensive corporate client network to expand the application of DB Robotics’ technologies. The partnership aims to integrate the strengths of both companies, fostering a mutually beneficial collaboration, the company added.

“The specialized robotics business requires substantial R&D investment and high manufacturing costs, which pose significant challenges to the ability of small and medium-sized enterprises to handle development, production and sales independently,” a DB Robotics official said.

“Through our collaboration with SK Shieldus, we aim to actively introduce robots, which are in the final stages of development, to the market and address both domestic and global demand.”

This agreement, the company said, is expected to boost DB Robotics’ efforts to advance the specialized robotics market while enhancing SK Shieldus’ portfolio of innovative solutions in security and facility management.
