CJ Group Chair Lee Jae-hyun conducted his first workplace visit of the year to the group's live commerce unit, showing his commitment to fostering growth in the mobile commerce sector, the group said Monday.

According to the group, Lee visited the headquarters of CJ OnStyle, the commerce division of CJ ENM, in Seoul on Friday to inspect operations and commend employees for the division's significant advancement in mobile live commerce last year.

"I highly commend CJ OnStyle for driving market changes by making mobile live commerce its new growth engine despite internal and external challenges last year," Lee said, stressing that a mobile-centered business model is essential for survival and urged the company to secure definitive leadership in the domestic market.

"With the success in Korea, I look forward to seeing further growth in establishing the company that leads lifestyle trends in global markets," he added.

CJ OnStyle's one-platform strategy, which seamlessly integrates mobile, TV and e-commerce, showed strong results last year, with mobile live commerce transaction volume surging 96 percent on-year and 400 new brands added to its mobile platform.

During his visit, Lee reviewed business performance and plans with company executives, including CJ ENM CEO Yoon Sang-hyun and Senior Managing Director of the Commerce Division Lee Sun-young. He then met with staff at the company's broadcasting studio, where he engaged directly with employees and pledged continued support for the division's growth.

Last year, the chair conducted site visits to the group's affiliates such as Olive Young and CJ Logistics to mark the start of 2024, and in September visited CJ Logistics' Saudi Global Distribution Center to inspect global business operations.

"We plan to enhance communication so that top management’s vision for business direction is clearly conveyed, ensuring employees stay aligned during times of internal and external uncertainty," a company official said.
