[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics said on April 20 its new flagship smartphone G6 will hit the European market on April 24 through 33 telecom carriers, including Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and Telefonica.

The first shipments will go to 24 countries such as the UK, Sweden, Finland, France and Germany.

Following its Korean launch on March 10, the phone made its debut in the US on April 7. LG plans to launch the new phone in other markets such as Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa in phases.

With the latest G6, LG has pledged to go back to basics, ditching the tech innovations of its predecessors, including the G5, the industry’s first modular smartphone.

The phone features a sleeker design without any drastic change in hardware functions. The largest-ever 5.7-inch full screen covers almost the entire front body, with a fingerprint-scanning home button on the back.

Battery, processor and cameras have been upgraded but not drastically. Google Assistant, serviced in English and Germany only, allows users to operate the phone through voice commends even when the screen is not activated.
