[ET NEWS] Samsung Electronics plans to offer an original case for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 as a basic accessory like a cable and charging dock, industry sources told ET News on Aug. 8.
The case is expected to be made of transparent plastic to protect the phone from dirt and smudge. But it is offered to Korean consumers only, with no plans for other key markets such as the US and Europe.

Three to four local manufacturers have reportedly started production, with more than 10 million units to be shipped.
The bigger-screen Note 8 is scheduled to be unveiled at an unpack event in New York on Aug. 23 before its Korean launch on Sept. 15.
The 400,000 limited editions of the refurbished Note 7, the Note Fan Edition, also came with an original case as a basic accessory last month.
Industry watchers said the original case that is usually priced at about 20,000 won (US$18) to 30,000 won would affect the phone sales positively overall.
