[THE INVESTOR] Chey Min-jeong, second daughter of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, is expected to be discharged from the Korea Navy this week, according to news reports on Nov. 27.

The heiress is currently serving as commanding officer of the Korea Navy’s 3nd Fleet Headquarters, which is responsible for defense of the West Sea Northern Limit Line.

Although the 27-year-old has not yet revealed her plans, there is growing speculation that she may join her family-owned conglomerate.

After graduating from Beijing University, Chey co-founded the online shopping mall Pandakorea.com, which sold products in China. She liquidated all of her shares upon listing and in September 2014, became the first chaebol offspring to become a naval officer.

Chey is reportedly scheduled to travel in the country until January and it is highly speculated that she will take charge of SK Group’s social enterprise-related business.

Her elder sister Chey Yoon-chung recently joined SK Biopharmaceutical, while her younger brother and the chairman’s only son Chey In-keun is studying at Brown University in the US.
