[THE INVESTOR] Top executives, government officials and investors in the global blockchain industry will visit Seoul to attend Blockfesta 2018, which will be held on Aug. 22-23 at Seoul Trade Exhibition Center in southern Seoul.

Among the high profile participants at the event will be Seoul City Mayor Park Won-soon, and Lim Jong-ryong, former Financial Services Commission chairman. They are expected to deliver congratulatory remarks during the opening ceremony on the first day.

Industry and government officials, including Cheon Ha-jin, chairman of Korea Blockchain Association’s self-regulatory committee; Kim Hyung-joo, chairman of Korea Blockchain Industry Promotion Association; Antanas Guoga, a European Parliament member; and Jason Hsu, a Taiwan legislator, will also take part in the two-day conference to discuss the current issues and regulations over the emerging blockchain market.

The conference is co-organized by blockchain media firm Blockmedia and KBIPA, an industry association established in August last year to promote the growth of the industry and nurture startups in the sector.

Chiefs of crypto exchanges -- such as Upbit, Huobi, Korbit and Coinone -- are scheduled to attend the conference to share their insights and business visions. Other prominent speakers include Roger Ver, CEO of cryptocurrency domain Bitcoin.com whose nickname is bitcoin Jejus, and Martin Weiss, head of Weiss Ratings, one of the first companies to give ratings for crypto coins.

Some of the topics up for discussion at the conference are the roles of regulations, security issues, pros and cons of centralized and decentralized exchanges, and regulations on initial coin offerings.
