[THE INVESTOR] Buzzvil, the world’s largest lockscreen advertising platform, said on Aug. 30 that it has acquired leading lockscreen content curator SlideApp in India and Pakistan as part of its global expansion efforts.

“By taking SlideApp under our wings, Buzzvil is able to take onboard excellent developers and continue to scale its geographic reach not only in the Asian, European and the US markets, but also India, Pakistan and the Middle East,” said John Lee, CEO of the lockscreen advertising platform operator.

The latest acquisition came after Buzzvil took over New York-based Slidejoy, which rewards users in exchange for allowing advertisements to be displayed on smartphone lockscreens, last year.

The Korean startup did not reveal the terms of the latest acquisition deal.

The team members of SlideApp previously worked with startup Ultra Caption, which was sold to Kakao, operator of the most popular mobile messenger app in Korea, in 2014.

Buzzvil offers a BuzzScreen software development kit, which enables corporate partners to create their own branded lockscreen solution that displays ads or news content on smartphones.

Among Buzzvil’s big name partners utilizing BuzzSrreen are Samsung Electronics, SK Telecom, CJ One, eBay, Adidas, Toyota, Jaguar and BMW.
