[THE INVESTOR] Korean massage chair maker Bodyfriend on Oct. 30 revealed its new brain massaging technology during a press conference in Seoul.

“We are the first company in the world to introduce brain massage technology and have registering the patent,” said Bodyfriend CEO Park Sang-hyun.

The new technology has already been applied to five of Bodyfriend’s massage chair models including its popular Lamborghini-themed chair LBF-750 last month.

The company added that it conducted an experiment that compares three different user groups -- one group that has no experience using massage devices, another with experience using existing massage chairs and the last group that tried out Bodyfriend’s technology, which it claims has significant effects on relaxing the users.

It cited binaural beat, which has the effect of relieving fatigue that is released through a type of meditation music from both sides of the chair. Users can enjoy the benefits of relaxing both the body and the brain.

“We plan to apply the new technology to our products sold overseas. We will make several versions of the meditation audio in different languages,” said Bodyfriend R&D center executive Cho Si-hyun.

Bodyfriend was established in 2007. It stands as the nation’s No. 1 massage chair brand with more than 70 percent market share. Its operating profit almost doubled to 120 billion won (US$105.24 million) last year from 2014.
