SmartStudy, the creator behind the hugely popular “Baby Shark” song, and its venture capital arm on June 10 said it had decided to invest in animation production specialist Red Dog Culture House.

SmartStudy said the latest investment, worth 10 billion won ($8.3 million), was part of the company’s efforts to develop new intellectual property and grow as a global over-the-top media service provider.

Red Dog Culture House participated in the production of various animation series, including the Netflix original “Love Death + Robots” and a promotion video for Overwatch, a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment.

“Through this investment in Red Dog Culture House, we will establish an IP multiverse … with various IPs that can encompass not only infants but all generations, and strengthen our ability to produce content, so that we can use it as an opportunity to become a global content producer,” SmartStudy CEO Kim Min-seok said.
