Shinhan Bank announced on Nov. 25 that it has signed an agreement for a 140 billion won (US$118.46 million) project financing that will fund a 33-megawatt solar power generation project in Japan.
It will serve as the lead financial manager offering counseling and arrangement, while participating in priority loan and fund investment as well. Shinhan BNP Japanese Solar Fund, of its affiliate Shinhan BNP Paribas Asset Management, will be mobilized as a resource.
The Japanese solar project is part of a 520 billion won, 152-megawatt operation that has sites in Kagoshima, Kumamoto and Shimane prefectures.
“This deal makes use of an existing financial platform and jointly participates in an overseas power generation project with an established local company,” said the bank, adding that it is seeking to expand overseas with a variety of models.
