[
THE INVESTOR] The South Korean government has decided to ban sales of six models of three foreign automakers, accusing them of fabricating reports to win approval from the local government, it said on Nov. 29
The Ministry of Environment reported that defects were found in the certification documents of 10 vehicle models from the local units of Nissan, BMW and Porsche.
The ministry also added that among them, six -- Infinity Q50, Qashqai, X5M, Macan S Diesel, Cayenne S E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo -- are currently being sold in the market, while the other four have been discontinued.
The investigation was launched in August following the Volkswagen emission-rigging scandal.
The government delivered hearing notices to the three companies on the same day and is planning to hand down final administrative measures in mid-December.
