Chinese smartphone shipments rapidly surge
[THE INVESTOR] The combined smartphone shipments by three major Chinese companies surged between January and November last year from the year before, surpassing Apple's shipments.
Data by Strategy Analytics showed that Huawei, Oppo and Vivo shipped a total of 255.4 million phones, more than Apple's 186.8 million but lower than Samsung Electronics' 280.7 million.
While Huawei remained strong, Oppo and Vivo also marked significant jumps by nearly doubling their shipmets on-year.
Strategy Analytics is set to release shipment data for the last quarter of 2016 next month.
