[THE INVESTOR] Retailers are seeking to attract more customers by rolling out delivery-related services and tackling niche delivery issues.

On Jan. 31, Paju Premium Outlets, run by Shinsegae in partnership with Simon Property Group, announced it had signed an agreement with DHL Korea to provide overseas shipping for tourists shopping in Korea.

Tourists who purchase products at Paju Premium Outlets can request their items be shipped to their home country, eliminating the need for them to carry the items through airport customs back home. The service will provide shipping to 220 countries across the world.

“Paju is becoming a rising tourist attraction with the abundant tourism resources of the city. We will continue to strengthen services to make shopping more convenient for customers from Korea and abroad,” Shinsegae Simon said through a statement.

Paju is home to Provence Village, which became famous for being the filming site for the hit TV drama “My Love from the Star,” as well as Camp Greaves, the filming site of the drama “Descendants of the Sun.” The outlets are also near the artists’ village Heyri Art Valley and Imjingak Village, near the demilitarized zone between the two Koreas.

SK Planet also announced Tuesday that its distribution service Trucking has opened a special hotline for sellers on the company’s online open market 11st. Sellers who call the hotline will be immediately connected to truck drivers in the area to deliver their products.

SK Planet said the service would allow sellers specializing in large, heavy products such as furniture or large household electronics to easily find trucks through a mobile platform to deliver their products to customers.

“The existing distribution systems are all focused on large-scale deliveries, which make them relatively inaccessible to sellers seeking to ship smaller quantities,” a spokesman for SK Planet said. “Through Trucking, sellers can receive trucking services that cater to their specific needs.”
