[
THE INVESTOR] Renault Samsung Motors reported on Feb. 1 that its overall sales surged 34.8 percent in January on-year, having sold 20,256 cars.
The company sold 7,440 units in the domestic market, 254.1 percent higher than January 2015 despite production days lessened by the Lunar New Year holiday that fell at the end of the month. The company said the January performance is the second highest for the month after 2011, when it sold 23,828 cars.
Exports fell 0.8 percent to 12,816 cars. Domestic demand was firm for SM6 sedan, whose sales totaled 3,529 units in the month, and for crossover SUV QM6 with 2,439 units.
