[THE INVESTOR] Recent data showed that Chinese smartphone manufacturers are aggressively expanding their market share with a strategy of releasing premium products for higher profitability.
The move is seen different from Chinese makers' previous strategyof mass producing low-priced products that imitate the models of other leading manufacturers.
Strategy Analytics said that the average selling price of a smartphone in the third quarter last year came at $184 among China's big three makers, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo.
Their price range is closely behind Samsung Electronics' $222.
