[THE INVESTOR] China has continued to top the export market share in the world, with 1,762 items that topped exports as of 2015, data by the Korea International Trade Association showed.
South Korea lagged at 15th place.
China has exported a total of 5,579 items, of which 31.6 percent ranked the highest in respective market share.
The number of South Korea‘s No. 1 export items has remained little changed, with 68 in 2013, 67 in 2014 and 68 in 2015.
South Korea’s chemical products, semiconductor memory chips, automobile parts and tankers, among others, maintained the world’s top spots.
KITA said that innovation to create high value-added items and differentiated export products are required in the face of global trade protectionism, trade conflict between US and China as well as the repercussions of Brexit.
