[THE INVESTOR] South Korea’s largest conglomerate Samsung Group will likely start its last biannual recruiting process from this month, according to industry sources on March 6.

Samsung is expected to post an announcement soon for the recruitment of entry-level workers and to start receiving applications.

After a document screening session, the conglomerate will conduct a personality and aptitude test and a series of interviews from April 16.

The recruitment session for the first half of the year was expected to be postponed as other important corporate decisions, including those for new investment and a year-end top executive reshuffle, have been delayed since late last year due to the alleged involvement of Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong in the influence-peddling scandal surrounding President Park Geun-hye and her confidante Choi Soon-sil.

The conglomerate has recently hinted at the overhaul of its annual hiring process for its more than 60 affiliates.

From the latter half this year, Samsung will allow each of its affiliates to recruit new employees on their own terms instead of holding the hiring session twice -- in the first and half of every year.

Samsung used to hire 4,000 new employees in the first half and 10,000 in the second half.

The change of the recruitment came alongside the disbandment of the Future Strategy Office, the de facto control tower of the conglomerate.

The office, which had been in charge of making core management decisions among the Samsung affiliates, came under fire for orchestrating schemes to provide financial support to Choi and her shady businesses.

The Samsung vice chairman vowed at a parliamentary hearing last year to dismantle the office to placate negative public sentiment toward the decision-making body which exerted an overwhelming influence over the entire Samsung affiliates.
