[THE INVESTOR] Lotte Confectionery’s chocolate factory in Shanghai was shut down for one month on March 8, according to industry sources on March 9.
The plant operated by Lotte Shanghai Food Corp., a joint venture between Lotte and Hershey’s of US, was subject to fire inspections recently.
This is the first time a manufacturing facility has faced China’s economic retaliation against the Korean retail giant that has offered land for the deployment of the US-made missile defense system THAAD.
A total of 55 out of 99 hypermarkets of the South Korean retailer in China have been targeted as well, citing violations of fire safety regulations.
