[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics' vehicle components division is expected to supply around-view monitors to Geely Automobile, China’s largest private carmaker after Great Wall Motors, ETnews reported on March 9.
An around-view monitor, considered a premium option, offers drivers a virtual birds-eye view of the vehicle and surroundings, allowing them to more easily park their vehicles.
Starting with the Geely deal, LG seeks to expand its presence in the Chinese market, the world’s largest passenger car market. The Korean tech giant posted 865.7 billion won (US$748.70 million) in car parts sales in the fourth quarter.
The report said LG plans to start production and shipments of the around-view monitors, consisting of a camera and sensors, in the first half of this year for the Geely brand’s large sedan cars and then other models -- Geely, Volvo and Lynk & Co.
