Samsung Electronics paid the largest corporate tax in South Korea in 2015, data showed on March 30.
Samsung paid 3.2 trillion won (US$2.87 billion) in taxes in 2015, taking up 7.1 percent of the total revenue, according to the data by the National Assembly Budget Office.
Hyundai Motor followed with 1.4 trillion won, trailed by state power monopoly
Korea Electric Power Corp. with 1.2 trillion won,
SK hynix with 980.8 billion won, and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power with 900.1 billion won.
Samsung and Hyundai alone accounted for 10.2 percent of the total corporate tax revenue in 2015.
Rounding out the top 10 were leading chemicals maker
LG Chem (725.3 billion won),
Hyundai Mobis (684.6 billion won),
Kia Motors (568.7 billion won),
E-mart (458.3 billion won) and
SK Telecom (413.1 billion won).
