Samsung promotes 54 execs in delayed reshuffle

[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics on May 11 promoted 54 executives at its mobile and TV business divisions in a delayed annual reshuffle following a bribery scandal involving its top brass, including jailed heir Lee Jae-yong.

“Samsung will minimize uncertainties through the latest reshuffle. We will make all-out efforts to achieve this year’s management goals,” Samsung said in a statement. 




Samsung usually carries out an annual reshuffle in December. The company is expected to announce further reshuffles at display and chip divisions in the coming days.

Six executives, including Kim Seok-ki, head of enterprise business of visual display unit, and Kim Jung-hwan, head of the South American operations, were promoted as executive vice presidents, while 11 others were named senior vice presidents.

Some executives were assigned new roles. Executive Vice President Choi Kyung-sil will serve as chief of strategy marketing office and Executive Vice President Lee Young-hee who led the marketing team of the mobile business division will co-serve as head of the firm’s global marketing center. Executive Vice President Tim Beckster was named as head of Samsung Electronics America.
