THE INVESTOR] Brokerage loans to customers for investment in stocks hit a nearly eight-month high, industry data showed May 19.
The benchmark KOSPI has gained about 11 percent so far this year, touching its highest-ever close last week.
As of May 18, brokerage loans to customers for stock investment stood at 7.4 trillion won (US$6.60 billion), up 10.5 percent from the end of last year.
It marked the biggest lending since the end of September last year, according to the data.
Loans by savings banks and other financial institutions for stock investment also stood at 2.9 trillion won at the end of April.
