[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics will install its artificial intelligence solution Bixby in all its high-end home appliances, especially the premium TV lineup, according to the tech giant on Oct. 19.

At a developers’ conference held in San Francisco, the tech giant announced plans to roll out electronics fitted with the updated version Bixby 2.0.

The company said high-end TVs featuring Bixby will be launched in 2018.

The updated AI solution has an advanced capability for understanding natural language queries, and boasts improved connectivity with diverse devices, according to Samsung.

“We’re constantly innovating in order to deliver smarter, connected experiences for our consumers. Now we’re taking a big step forward with our open Internet of Things platform, intelligent ecosystem and augmented reality capabilities,” said Koh Dong-jin, chief of Samsung’s mobile business unit.

Along with the new Bixby, Samsung also unveiled a new software development kit that will help developers easily integrate it into various applications and services.

Both the AI solution and SDK were jointly developed with Viv Labs, a US-based AI tech startup Samsung acquired last year.
