Hana Financial’s net profit jumps 13% in Q3

[THE INVESTOR] Hana Financial Group said on Oct. 27 its net profit rose 13.3 percent from a year earlier in the third quarter.

Net profit came to 510 billion won (US$451 billion) in the July-September period on a consolidated basis, compared with 450 billion won a year ago, the group said in a regulatory filing.

For the January-September period, Hana Financial Group‘s combined net profit stood at 1.54 trillion won, up 24.3 percent from a year earlier.

Interest income came to 1.3 trillion won in the third quarter, up 3.5 percent from a quarter earlier.

The group’s net interest margin, a key barometer of profitability, rose 0.02 percentage point to 1.94 percent in the third quarter from a quarter earlier.

Flagship KEB Hana Bank posted a net profit of 1.51 trillion won in the January-September period, up 20 percent from a year earlier.
