[THE INVESTOR] US-based International Dairy Queen plans to enter Korea by launching its first flagship DQ Grill & Chill restaurant on Nov. 4 in the university district of Daehangno, northern Seoul.

The Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary that owns, operates and franchises a chain of fast-food restaurants announced last year that it signed a contract to enter the Korean market with M2G USA Investment.

“We are looking forward to working with M2G USA Investment to bring our renowned menu, signature treats and quality service to Korea,” IDQ CEO John Gainor said in the statement.

M2G has a diverse business portfolio including restaurants, hotels and global real estate. The firm also is a partner in operating Mexican fast-food chain Taco Bell here.

DQ Grill & Chill restaurants offer a full range of food options, including its signature ice cream menus along with burgers, salads and sandwiches.

The firm announced that it plans to further expand its presence in Korea by opening 50 outlets in locations including Itaewon, Gangnam and Hongdae in five years. IDQ was formed in 1962 and currently operates more than 2,200 stores outside the US, including Canada and China. In 2001, the first DQ Grill & Chill restaurant was opened in Tennessee, US.
